Description

Paso Fino - Medium - Adult - Female - Horse - Benitta
Description
UPDATE: October 15, 2009 - Offering this mare to current home ASAP. I have recently had to have surgery, so i am unable to work with her and she needs additional work with feet. Please call for reduced adoption fee or donation to 501(c)3. Please help me find a home for Banitta as soon as possible. September 30, 2009 - Benitta has gained 100 lbs - think we found the solution to her weight gain. Yeah! She is started to act and look better. She is being fed 3 times a day, added Red Cell to her feed. Worming has been changed to 2 times a month. I sticked her to get a good height and she stands 14.2. WOW, did not think she stood that high, the weight misleads you. Her feet have been trimmed and she is gaiting around the pasture now. She is feeling good. I feel that she maybe ready for a new home by the end of October for sure, as long as she is kept on this feeding schedule until her full weight has been accomplished. Her adoption fee is based on actual cost. Currently $285.00 but will go up by her date of being ready for adoption by cost of feed, hay and suppliments. Hooves being trimmed is free - since my husband takes care of that for me. Please let meknow if you have any questions or would like to arrange to meet Benitta. She is available for foster care with the current adoption fee and you take over the cost of the care. I will continue to provide the labor for free until she is ready to leave. August 16, 2009 - She is gaining weight very slowly. Hope she will be ready for adoption sometime in September. If you want to come and take a look at her, please let me know. Will hold for right home. UPDATE: July 15, 2009 - Benetta had her teeth re-floated. She had several sharp edges in the back molars and a mouth sour on the left side. She did not like getting her teeth floated, but now she eats much better. I have been feeding her 3 times a day, and she is looking to like she is starting to gain weight slowly. I feel that she will be ready for adoption sometime around October. Will not put a saddle on her until she looks much better. Equine Dentist confirms her age to be at 15 or 16. Will update as needed. If you are interested, please let me know and we can work out a deposit and help with feed program. JULY 10, 2009 - Pretty girl in need of much weight. NOT READY FOR ADOPTION, however you can donate feed and hay to help with her weight gain. Benetta is approximately 14 hands, 14 years of age, red bay with current coggins. Not yet updated on shots, but will be by the end of the weekend. BENETTA's Story: Today, July 10, 2009, I took in this pretty girl. She used to live on a small farm and the owner did not know that horses have to fight for feed and that they need their teeth floated on a yearly or by-yearly basis. The other horse she was in with, Hustler, was in better shape and took Benetta's feed when she was done eating her own. The owner surrendered Benetta and Hustler to Gilchrist County and Mary from Paws & Claws took them in about 3 weeks ago. Well, Benetta's teeth were in such bad shape, that she could not close her mouth and chew, so Mary had the vet float them. Since Paws & Claws deals with cats, Mary called me to see if I could take these two horses in. Now she eats better but will need follow up care within 6 months. She will be on my farm until she gains weight. Check back for updates and new photos.
